Enter in a historic monument with a prestigious past.
Founded in 754 in the foothills of the Montagne Noire, this Benedictine abbey became famous through its innovative teaching methods practiced from the 17th century until its closure in 1991.
its renown was such that it was established as the Royal Military school of Louis XVI and welcomed students from all over the world.
During the 19th century it was directed by a Dominican, the Reverend Father Lacordaire.

Open since spring 2015, this museum covers a surface area of 1500 square meters, with buildings laid out in a way that reflects both a contemporary style and one mindful of its heritage.
The Sorèze Abbey-school is today a place of rich cultural and touristic activity, a recognized rural development center, one of the primary sites in the Midi Pyrénées region and an approved "Maison des Illustres" and "Famille Plus" where Art, knowledge and nature meet.

The "Musiques Festival des Lumières" festival in July -Opera, various style of music, baroque and contemporary, all find a place in the chapel, the "Salle des Illustres", and the Abbey church or outdoor in the red courtyard.
